About Utheemu
The island, is situated in Haa Alif Atoll. Visit Utheemu
Island, It involves a two-day trip from Male' by boat, or a plane to Haa
Dhaal Atoll. It will take about 45 minutes if you intend to travel by a
plane. A Palace stands in the western part of the island, well
known to the Maldivian public because it was the residential
palace of the national hero, Sultan Ghazi Mohamed
Boduthakurufanu (1573-1585).

Some of the important places in Utheemu
The
traditional mosque in Utheemu, built on a coral stone base with wooden beams
and lacquered pillars. Originally the roof was probably thatched but the
thatch has been replaced by tiles from Mangalore, dated 1868
